Ellen runs the product and seller side of Blind Spec: the shade and blind reviews, the per-window price ledger, and the seller-policy audits behind both. The method is deliberately unglamorous — price the same benchmark windows (a standard 35×48 and a wide 72×48) in each seller’s own configurator, with the fabric and lift a real buyer would pick, and date the quote because prices move. Where a seller advertises a starting price, the review shows what the cart actually rings up instead.

The house stance is that a recommendation is earned with published, checkable facts, not photography. A beautiful catalog shot with a vague measuring guide and a stingy remake policy is a worse buy than a plain listing that states its deductions plainly and remakes an honest mismeasure. Price gets the same treatment: per window, computed the same way for every seller, so a "40% off" banner and a flat price can be compared without the sale math doing the talking.

Ellen claims no interior-design credential, no installer certification, and no trade background — none is claimed because none is held. The authority here is method: measuring guides and remake policies read closely, per-window prices recomputed at fixed sizes, and every figure checked against the seller’s own live site at write time. When a seller doesn’t publish something, the review says "not published" rather than guessing.
