How we make money
Blind Spec earns commissions when you buy through some of our links. That is the whole model — no sponsored posts, no paid placements, no inventory of our own — and it funds the research. It does not decide the verdicts.

Commissions never buy a verdict
A higher commission cannot move a seller up a ranking, and no seller can pay for a review, a placement, or a score. The fit-and-policy bar is the same for everyone: an affiliate relationship never overrides a weaker measuring guide or a stingier remake policy — an affiliate whose fit rules or remake terms fall short gets the same treatment as a stranger's. We also cover sellers who pay us nothing, under nominative use, because reader-useful coverage is the product. When the honest answer is "skip this seller," the page says that, commission or not.
No invented credentials, no invented testing
Our writers are researchers and editors. They hold no interior-design credential, no installer certification, and no trade background — and we never invent any. Bylines describe what a person actually does here: reads the published measuring guides, audits remake policies, prices benchmark windows, and compares specs. Reviews are desk-verified from published sources; we do not install blinds on camera or claim hands-on testing we have not done. Read who they are on the team page.
The deduction rule is the seller’s, not ours
Every seller applies its own mount deductions, so no page here gives a deduction figure as gospel. We show the typical range, explain what it does, and send you to confirm the exact number against that seller’s own measuring guide before ordering — because their rule wins, and custom blinds are made to size and generally not returnable. Our measure & fit checker carries the same hedge in bold, on purpose.
Child-safety facts, stated plainly
Where cord safety is relevant, we state the plain, sourced fact: the U.S. CPSC and the window-covering industry moved stock blinds to cordless because accessible cords are a documented strangulation hazard to young children, so cordless or motorized is the recommended choice in homes with kids or pets. We never inflate that into fear-marketing to upsell a pricier lift, and we never invent a policy or a "guaranteed fit" a seller does not offer.
Corrections & freshness
Sellers redesign, prices reprice, remake policies change, and we get things wrong sometimes. When we update a page, the date you see reflects a real change — we do not stamp a fresh year on stale work to game a feed. Spot an error, a dead link, or a policy change we have not caught? Tell us and we will fix it.
Claim accuracy
Facts about sellers are verified against the seller's live site, measuring guide, and policy pages at write time; where something is not published, the review says "not published" instead of filling the gap. Per-window prices are quoted at analysis for a stated benchmark size with a checked date, and quoted marketing claims we debunk are quoted to be debunked — clearly, so the correction cannot be mistaken for the claim.
