Outside Mount

An outside mount fixes the blind to the wall or window casing above the opening so the covering overlaps the frame rather than sitting inside it. It is the forgiving choice: it rescues shallow frames that can’t take an inside mount, hides out-of-square openings, and blocks more light because it overlaps the edges — the practical route to real room-darkening. The costs are that it covers the trim and reads a little bulkier. Standard guidance is to add roughly 2–3 inches of overlap on each side and above. There is no factory width deduction on an outside mount; you order the overlap you measured.
