Sheer / Layered Shade
Sheer shades (a well-known branded example is Silhouette) suspend soft fabric vanes between two sheer facings; tilting the vanes controls light like a horizontal blind while the sheers diffuse it into a glow. They’re a step up in softness and price from zebra shades and read as a more formal, upholstered treatment. What they share with zebra shades is honesty about darkness: even closed, they filter rather than block light and offer limited nighttime privacy, so they’re a living-room and dining-room product, not a blackout bedroom one. Judge them on vane quality and how the sheers hang, and pair them with something opaque where real darkness is needed.
