Factory Tolerance

Factory tolerance is the manufacturing variance a made-to-order blind is allowed — a finished product can legitimately arrive a small fraction of an inch off the nominal size. It’s a normal part of custom production, not a defect, and it’s separate from the width deduction. Why it matters to you: it’s an argument for outside mounts when a window is marginal, and it’s why sellers phrase inside-mount fit as “clears the opening” rather than “seals it.” Reputable sellers publish their tolerance and back it with a remake policy for genuine manufacturing errors. Read both the tolerance and the remake policy before ordering — they define what “a good fit” contractually means.
