Smart Hub / Bridge
A hub (or bridge) is the small device that links motorized shades’ radio signals to your home Wi-Fi so they work with a phone app, schedules, and voice assistants. Many systems run the shades from a plain RF remote with no hub at all; the hub is what unlocks app control, automation, and integration with Alexa, Google, or Apple Home. Two things to verify before buying: whether the shades need the maker’s specific hub (most do), and which ecosystems that hub actually supports today. The hub is also the part most tied to a vendor’s cloud, so its longevity and integration list are worth checking as much as the shade itself.
