Vane / Louver

A vane (or louver) is a single hanging slat in a vertical blind. Vanes come in fabric, smooth or textured vinyl, PVC, and faux-wood, and the material sets the look, the light control, and the acoustics — fabric vanes hang quieter and softer, hard vinyl is the easy-clean workhorse. A practical ownership note: vanes clip individually into carriers at the top, so a damaged one can be replaced without redoing the whole blind, which is why keeping a spare or knowing the vane size matters. When comparing vertical blinds, the vane material and how securely it seats in the carrier are the specs that predict daily satisfaction.
