Vertical Blind

A vertical blind hangs fabric, vinyl, or faux-wood vanes from a top track; they tilt for light control and slide to one or both sides to clear the opening. Verticals are the pragmatic answer to sliding patio doors and very wide windows, where horizontal blinds would be unwieldy and heavy to raise. Modern fabric vanes and “S-curve” vinyl have shed much of the dated rattling-blind reputation. The honest weak points are the noise and vane-swing in a draft, and that individual vanes can be knocked off their carriers (though they’re individually replaceable). For a slider you actually use daily, verticals or a panel track usually beat the alternatives.
