Cellular (Honeycomb) Shade

A cellular shade — also called a honeycomb — is made of pleated fabric that forms hexagonal cells when viewed from the side. Those cells trap a layer of still air at the window, which is the category’s real selling point: measurable insulation against heat loss and gain, plus a soft, even light. Cellular shades are lightweight, so they mount in shallow frames (roughly 3/4" for many) and take cordless and top-down/bottom-up lifts well. Cell size and single- vs double-cell construction set how much insulation you get. They’re the honest default for energy-conscious rooms and windows where depth is tight.
