Glossary · Curtains & Drapery
Drapery / Curtains
Drapery and curtains are fabric panels hung from a rod or track, and the key thing to understand is that they’re sized by fabric width, not window width: proper fullness needs roughly two to two-and-a-half times the width of the area you’re covering, so the panels gather into folds rather than hanging flat. That changes the pricing math entirely versus a made-to-size blind. Drapery wins on warmth, softness, sound absorption, and a finished decorative layer; it gives coarser light control than a fitted shade. Many rooms use both — a functional blind for precise light and privacy, drapery for the finish. Measure for fullness, not just the opening.
