Fullness Ratio
Fullness ratio is the multiple of the covered width you buy in fabric so curtains hang in proper folds instead of stretched flat — commonly 2× to 2.5× the rod or window width for a full, tailored look (a thin 1.5× reads skimpy). It’s the number that makes drapery pricing feel different from blinds: doubling the width doubles the fabric and much of the cost. It also interacts with pleat style, which sets how that fullness is gathered. When budgeting drapery, start from the fullness ratio, not the window size — it’s the single biggest driver of both the look and the bill, and skimping on it is the most common curtain mistake.
