A hobbled (or looped) roman keeps soft cascading loops of fabric even when fully lowered, a fuller, more traditional, more fabric-hungry look. The choice is aesthetic rather than functional, but it has cost and light consequences: hobbled uses more fabric (higher price) and its loops never lie flat, so a blackout hobbled shade still isn’t a light seal.
