Relaxed / Casual Roman

A relaxed (or casual) roman shade skips the rigid horizontal dowels of a structured roman, letting the bottom hem drape into a gentle smile-shaped curve. It reads soft, informal, and coastal, and it works beautifully in lighter fabrics over kitchen sinks and in casual rooms. Because it has no internal rods holding the fabric flat, it’s the least precise roman for light control — the curved hem leaves more gap — so it’s a decorative treatment first. If you love the look but need darkness, layer it over a functional roller or cellular. Judge it on the fabric’s drape, which is the entire point of the style.
